I’d like to show my respects to a friend and colleague Michael Prophet the legend. To me prophet was gifted, talanted & blessed with that amazing voice, his trade mark intro when you heard it, was unmistakable, original and put me on a instant vibes.
Prophet use to greet me like “Vybz wah gwaan” he’d always enquirer about my wellbeing first then the music second. Prophet was a lively man, jokes use to run . . . we use to tease him about his OCD condition as Prophet loved to clean his Benz over and over no matter the weather. He was a clean and proud man but still showed me kindness and respect, and when ever he performed he was immaculately dressed representing for your event.

December 24th 2016 @ Bojangles Michael performed at my event and headlined. Its funny I didn’t think for a minute one year after my event he’d be dead. Prophet died in London on December 16, 2017, at the age of 60 years old, he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer but eventually died from cardiac arrest.
I was so shocked at his death as I’d only just heard about his medical condition, it all happened waaayyy to quickly the next thing I knew his funeral service was taking place at the New Testament Church of God. I was deeply shocked and saddened by his death and felt sad for my cousin I Kool as the pair was practically joint at the hip.
Prophet said many times he was from Kingston, Jamaica from Maxfield avenue and he was proud to be one of the artistes from Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes’ Volcano label during the early 1980s and it was from this label he scored his biggest hit Gunman, one of my favourites. (I also love “Your Love” Ricky Tuffy & Prophet) big tune too.
Prophet was still performing up & down the country so I had no clue he was so so sick. He was still recording tunes and in & out of studios right up to the last days. He was laid to rest on Thursday, February 1, 2018 survived by Children & family. R.I.E.P Michael Haynes aka Prophet because thats what I’ve called him since the first time I meet him on my doorstep in Kensal Green NorthWest London, and he said to me “I’m an International superstar” I played ignorance but I already knew that Prophet!!! Rest King … Peace.
