Paul Grant (born in Huddersfield on 21st December 1966), better known by his stage name “Grantie Asher”, is a British singer/songwriter who specialises in Reggae & Lovers rock, but who occasionally likes to venture into different genres.
Grantie has been on a promotional tour in Gambia, doing live radio interviews, live performances & club appearances in doing so gaining more fans to his fan base in Africa
Grantie performed at the 13th edition of the Screen Nation Film & TV Awards, which successfully took place on Sunday 18th Feb 2018 in the presence of industry executives, respected creatives, top directors and famous actors & presenters from today and yesteryear.
The dazzling event was themed under the Black Panther in homage to the release of the seminal superhero movie, with the historic film receiving its very first award at this ceremony co-hosted by the debonair Simon Frederick of #BlackistheNewBlack, BBC fame also alongside actress and queen of Twerk fitness, the inimitable Kelechi Okafor.
In 1989 Grantie released a double ‘A’ side record called “If It Was Love” followed by a duet with Lovers rock queen Paulette Tajah entitled “Love or Physical” at Passion RecordsWhich got to No.1 in the Black Echo’s Reggae Charts.
Around this time Grantie was also the supporting act for Maxi Priest and Chaka Demus and Pliers.
Presently, Grantie is recording with the UK based award winning producer Starrvybz, manager & C.E.O @ Starrvybz Entertainment record label, producing such songs as ‘Black Skin’, ‘Where Is the Love’ ‘Don’t Put Your Hand’ ‘Me A Singer’ ‘One Kiss’ & ‘Hard Fi Handle’ft UK legend Lloyd Brown.
Grantie has scored a massive underground hit in the song called “Black Skin” a great inspiring & uplifting song. This song has gained great attention whenever played and is being recognized as one of Grantie more popular songs. ‘Black Skin’ focuses on the issues of being black and proud. This breakthrough hasn’t happened in a long while since Kofi’s “Black Pride”
